This
story started when a friend of mine, a pretty bride to be, Sarrah send me a
post in Instagram from @TheBrideDebt as you can see below. The Bride Debt (TBD)
has been known to be a portal that gives information and much much much
inspirations of a wedding nowadays. I don’t really remember since when, but
since the power of Instagram is becoming big like about in 2015 or 2016, bride
ideas becoming a big deal. As a business and as a life process.
As the poster said, TBD will launch their newest wedding planner and also create a mini talk show with a title of “Are you ready to get married?” Wow, Sar, wowww, are you ready sis? Hahaha. Since both of us in a process of serious dating and expecting (while it is not only a dream tho at least) marriage in the future, sometimes we share some information about marriage seminar. And it seems like this TBD talk show will fit us, both for the date, time, place, and theme. So, we planned to come together on March 30, yup, it is yesterday!
I and (ten
minutes later) Sarrah arrived in Brood n Booter Kemang and we directly go
upstairs where the event held. Right after we arrived (separately), the seat
and decoration are already set up. There are some girls (or women should I call
them? Hmm) with pink dress code already seat up. Everything was so pink, but a
calm and classy pink so my eyes won’t hurt. Hahaha. There is a free flow of
cold drink and a mini booth of several items that TBD sell. As per I know,
except providing inspirational pictures in Instagram and articles on their
website talking about wedding and marriage, TBD also sells some items related
to wedding preparation. Which one of it is the wedding planner 2.0 that will be
launched, and fun-short-story is.. I and Sarrah both already have the first
version of TBD wedding planner since last year. HAHAHA. We admit it to each
other lol and so we don't need to buy the similar planner again lol. Anyway, TBD also gives some services related to vendors, well you
better check their website here!
After everyone gathered, the talk show starts at two thirty. We had the MC that open and welcome the speakers. And for the speakers, we had,
(1) Putri Arinda & Friska Ruslim as they
are Co-founder of The Bride Dept that will talk about more technical of the
wedding itself. At first, I thought that they are still so young and creative
(they are the twos that build TBD!) but actually.. they already married too.
Wow, so young.
(2) Kania Annisa Anggiani or Keke, the Founder
of Chic and Darling. I don’t really know her at first but Sarrah told me about
her and Chic and Darling, and WOW again, she’s really a mom-to-be! Chic and Darling is her business related to home, essentials, and ready to wear products,
which the story behind the establishment was really touch-full. She’s also
brought her mom whose a pre-marital counselor and her daughter who so pretty
and cute! And, she’s actually the sister-in-law of Alodita also. Wow, a really
active, beauty, and inspiring women in one family. 100!
(3) Ingrid Devina as Co-founder of Good Money
Habit. One thing that I would say at first I saw her: She is a real beauty! She
is tall and slim, nice hair and skin, pretty face, and really stylish. I don’t
really know about Good Money Habit but by the time she starts the talk, WOW
(another wow), she’s so strong, independent, and logical. Good Money Habit is a
financial and insurance advisor and she is already working for several clients
which mostly a couple with a financial problem.

I
acknowledge that at first, I don’t really know each of the speakers and I
thought the session would be not so compact and will talk more about the
wedding (the Day) preparation. But, it was more than that. The four speakers
already married and experienced a real day-to-day marriage problem, not only
the wedding itself. We talked more about the days after the wedding. About
mental readiness, habits and traits, family and culture, financial problems,
salary and budgeting, soul and body, and the love of marriage itself. Not
forgetting the existence of wedding planner, we also talked about the wedding
preparation, from deciding date and place, vendors, budget, health, and even
prenup. The session is like the storytelling of real-life experiences of four
different couples, problems, and way to deal with it. And this is exactly what
I and Sarrah need, for the time being. We are not looking for technical
information of marriage (like, anyone has it?) but we need stories, that real,
honest, and pure. So we know the good and bad things that probably happened. We
might already hear from parents or families, but this session not trying to
advise us, it just giving us a deeper understanding of how volatile a marriage
would be. And we pleased to know it.
There might be a lot to tell and pointed out from
the talk show we had yesterday. I even got a full four pages of handwritten
summary of the talks. Every single thing, about the sad story of diseases that
might affect a pregnancy until a funny habit find out that the husband could
snore all night, each of it become a reminder for us. Since I can’t mention
every single part, I will share the sharing I had on Instagram related to the
talk. Which is, “What kind of things to be considered as a need to be known by
each individual in the preparation of marriage?” Find it below or kindly click
the highlight in my Instagram account.
And yes,
it was a good way to spend my Saturday afternoon. Being surrounded by positive
girls around and listening to stories that I need. I feel blessed. And also we
had pizza, doughnuts, and other snacks party right after that. I got lots of
information needed, met new inspirational people, got a goodie bag full of
vouchers and accessories, and had a full tummy! And of course, I got a quality
of time to meet Sarrah, a friend to talk in a leadership development forum
until wedding preparation talk show! Hahahaha thank you Sarrah and
@TheBrideDebt for the day!
So, are we ready (yet) for a marriage?
Xoxo,
Adelia
Budiarto.
